Installation guides for the Tracy Lewis patented air/oil separating crankcase evacuation system on Cadillac. Find your engine below, download the instructions, and follow the link to the kit built for it.
Which Cadillac kit do you need?
Kits are engine-specific rather than model-specific, so start from what is under the hood:
| Engine | Typical models | Kit |
|---|---|---|
| 3.0 and 3.6 V6 | 2008-13 CTS, 2013-19 ATS, 2014-19 CTS, 2013-16 XTS | Cadillac CTS, ATS & XTS 6 cylinder catch can |
| LF3 and LF4 twin turbo V6 | ATS-V, CTS V-Sport, CT4-V Blackwing, XTS V-Sport | Cadillac ATS-V & V-Series catch can |
| Supercharged V8 | 2004-19 CTS-V, 2022-24 CT5-V Blackwing | Cadillac CTS-V & CT5-V Blackwing catch can |
| 2.0 turbo four cylinder (LTG) | ATS and CTS 2.0T | Cadillac ATS & CTS 2.0 Turbo catch can |

Installation on a 2014 Cadillac CTS-V
This is an installation and explanation of the Tracy Lewis Catch Can system performed on a 2014 Cadillac CTS-V.
Why a Cadillac needs more than a catch can
Every engine in the list above is direct injected, and most are boosted. Direct injection means no fuel washes the back of the intake valves, so oil vapour carried through the PCV system bakes onto them as carbon — costing airflow and smoothness, and eventually requiring the intake to come off for cleaning. Boost compounds it by driving more blow-by past the rings.
A conventional catch can only collects oil that has already left the engine. The Tracy Lewis system adds two things:
- Full-time crankcase vacuum, so pressure never builds and oil is not forced past seals or back into the intake tract.
- Clean Side Separator, included with every kit, addressing oil ingestion upstream of the throttle body — a route an ordinary catch can does not reach.
Above 12 psi of boost you will need the high-performance billet aluminum check valve on the intake manifold side. Kits ship with Gates Push-Lok hose as standard, with Gates Barricade or black braided hose available as upgrades.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know which Cadillac kit I need?
Go by engine rather than model. The 3.0 and 3.6 V6, the LF3/LF4 twin turbo V6, the supercharged V8 and the 2.0 turbo four each take a different kit. The table above maps engines to kits, and we will confirm fitment if you e-mail us with your year, model and trim.
Is there a guide for the CT4-V?
Yes, the CT4-V 2.7L has its own installation instructions, linked above.
Do I need the high-performance check valve?
Only above 12 psi of boost. It fits the intake manifold side; the standard valve is used on the opposite side.
How long does it take to arrive?
Each kit is built specifically for your vehicle, so there is a short lead time before shipment.
Is a catch can legal where I live?
Some states, California in particular, regulate changes to vehicle emissions systems. Check your local rules before ordering.
