Why these engines benefit
Two different cases are covered here, and they need the system for different reasons.
The supercharged Tundra is a boosted engine, and boost drives more blow-by past the rings. That raises crankcase pressure exactly when the engine is working hardest, pushing oil vapour into the intake tract where it lowers effective octane and coats everything downstream.
The 1.8L Toyota and Lexus engines, including the Prius, spend their lives in stop-start and hybrid duty cycles. Short trips and long idle periods are the conditions in which moisture and fuel dilution accumulate in the crankcase rather than being driven off, and a PCV system routes that mixture back through the intake.
A conventional catch can only collects oil that has already left the engine. The Tracy Lewis system does two more things:
- Full-time crankcase vacuum keeps the crankcase under vacuum continuously, so pressure never builds and oil is not forced past seals or back into the intake.
- Clean Side Separator, included with every kit, addresses oil ingestion upstream of the throttle body — a route an ordinary catch can cannot reach.

Which Toyota and Lexus models are documented?
The supercharged Toyota Tundra, Toyota and Lexus 1.8L engines from 2010 onward, and the 2010-2019 Toyota Prius 1.8L. Each has its own published installation instructions.
Does a Prius really need a catch can?
Hybrid and short-trip driving is exactly the duty cycle in which moisture and fuel dilution build up in the crankcase instead of being driven off by heat. Installation instructions are published specifically for the 2010-2019 Prius 1.8L.
Do I need the high-performance check valve?
Only if the engine makes more than 12 psi of boost, which on this list applies to the supercharged Tundra. It fits the intake manifold side; the standard valve is used on the opposite side.
How long does it take to arrive?
Each kit is built specifically for your vehicle, so there is a short lead time before shipment.
Is a catch can legal where I live?
Some states, California in particular, regulate changes to vehicle emissions systems. Check your local rules before ordering.
