What It Is: This kit retrofits a genuine GM "fuel content sensor" into your fuel supply system. The kit includes a custom and professionally assembled wiring harness to easily adapt the sensor into the factory wiring system, plus high quality fuel line and fittings. With the kit installed and tuned for, you'll be able to run E85 ethanol, gasoline, or any blend of the two. This kit is made by and exclusive to Tracy Lewis Performance.

How it works: This sensor measures the ethanol content of the fuel that travels through it. The engine computer, from this sensor's readings, knows what air/fuel ratios to target. Many (most) E85 pumps aren't the 85% ethanol they claim to be, and other stations offer E70 or less. Regardless of what mix of gasoline/E85 you have, your engine computer knows thanks to this sensor and provides proper adjustment and performance. Tuning is required to activate the sensor, and Tracy Lewis Performance has custom flex fuel revisions that adjust air/fuel and spark timing based on % of ethanol in your fuel.

Why you want it: Performance gains on Tracy Lewis Performance E85 tuning vs Our 93 octane gasoline tuning have been 14 wheel horsepower on one LFX vehicle, while another showed approximately 20 wheel horsepower. A 10-15 horsepower gain at the wheels is a realistic expectation for most. Gains can be even more if you typically run on 87 octane gasoline. This goes together with stronger low end torque to help with towing and hauling. You simply need to fill up with the appropriate fuel to enjoy the gains and you can switch back and forth as you desire.

How it installs: To install the fuel line and sensor, you unplug the fuel feed line at the intake manifold connection and connect this sensor assembly inline. To install the harness, plug the sensor in, plug the inline connection in at a coil connection, and add the pin to the engine computer harnesses. Then flash in the Tracy Lewis flex fuel enabled tune, or have your custom tune performed. No permanent modifications are required to your vehicle and total installation will take you about 20 minutes.

What it costs: Kit cost is $279. If you have an Tracy Lewis tune already, the flex fuel revision is no charge.

What else should I know?: Some 3.6 LFX V6 platforms are flex fuel but not all. Your LFX engine is capable of supporting flex fuel operation with no changes needed to the fuel injectors, fuel pump, or any other hardware. If you have someone else's custom tune, while of course I'd love everyone to run an Tracy Lewis tune, your tuner should be able to reference a factory flex fuel 3.6 Impala for the sensor enable information and a starting point for tuning. Tracy Lewis has pioneered doing 3.6 LFX retrofit flex fuel kits on those platforms that aren't flex fuel for nearly 2 years and been tuning factory flex fuel capable 3.6s since their introduction in 2012.
