LTG 2.0 Turbo Oil Catch Can — Camaro & ATS

The LTG is GM's 2.0 litre turbocharged four cylinder, fitted to the Chevrolet Camaro and the Cadillac ATS and CTS. Tracy Lewis Performance builds a patented air/oil separating crankcase evacuation system specifically for it — not a universal can adapted to fit.

Do you have an LTG?

If your Camaro, ATS or CTS is the four cylinder turbo rather than the V6 or V8, you have the LTG. GM used the engine across both brands:

2016-2023 Chevrolet Camaro 2.0 turbo Camaro 2.0 Turbo 4 cylinder catch can
Cadillac ATS and CTS 2.0 turbo Cadillac ATS & CTS 2.0 Turbo 4 cylinder catch can

Not sure? E-mail us at apdeg@aol.com with your year, model and trim and we will confirm it before anything is built. Note that the 2016 Camaro alone was sold with three different engines, so the badge on the back is not enough to go on.

Installation instructions

Why the LTG in particular

The LTG combines the two things that produce intake valve deposits. It is direct injected, so no fuel washes across the back of the intake valves to keep them clean, and it is turbocharged, so it drives more blow-by past the rings than a naturally aspirated engine of the same size.

What that means in practice is oil vapour carried through the PCV system baking onto the valves as carbon. The engine loses airflow gradually rather than suddenly, so it is easy to miss until the intake comes off. On a small-displacement turbo engine that is asked to make the power of something larger, losing airflow costs more than it would on a big naturally aspirated V8.

A conventional catch can only collects oil that has already left the engine. The Tracy Lewis system does two more things:

  • Full-time crankcase vacuum. The crankcase is held under vacuum continuously rather than only under certain conditions, so pressure never builds and oil is not forced past seals or back into the intake tract.
  • Clean Side Separator. Included with every kit, it addresses oil ingestion upstream of the throttle body — a path an ordinary catch can does not reach, and one that matters more on a boosted engine.

What the kit includes

  • Patented air/oil separating crankcase evacuation system, built to order for the LTG
  • Clean Side Separator, included as standard rather than as a paid add-on
  • Billet aluminum check valves. Above 12 psi of boost you will need the high-performance check valve on the intake manifold side
  • Gates Push-Lok hose as standard, with Gates Barricade or black braided hose available as upgrades
  • All fittings and hardware needed for the installation

Ordering

Choose the kit for your vehicle from the table above, or browse the full catch can range. Guides for other engines are on the catch can installation instructions hub, and there are more Cadillac-specific guides on the Cadillac installation page. Each kit is built specifically for the vehicle, so allow a short lead time.

Frequently asked questions

What is the LTG engine?

It is GM's 2.0 litre turbocharged direct-injection four cylinder, used in the Chevrolet Camaro and the Cadillac ATS and CTS.

How do I tell whether I have the LTG?

If your Camaro, ATS or CTS is the four cylinder turbo rather than a V6 or V8, it is the LTG. The 2016 Camaro was sold with three different engines, so if you are not certain, send us your year, model and trim and we will confirm before building anything.

Is the Camaro kit the same as the Cadillac kit?

They are separate kits. Order the one listed for your vehicle above.

Do I need the high-performance check valve?

Only above 12 psi of boost. It fits the intake manifold side; the standard valve is used on the opposite side.

Is a catch can legal where I live?

Some states, California in particular, regulate changes to vehicle emissions systems. Check your local rules before ordering.
