How does the Tracy Lewis system accomplish this?
This patented system is actually a true full time vacuum crankcase evacuation system. Unlike the GM recall fix of changing the oil from the owners manual recommended 0w20/5w20 weight, they simply change to a 0w40 weight. While that does help some on combating the oil dilution cause of the engine failures, it is not a solution but simply a "Band Aid" approach to get the end user past the warranty period. It does nothing to address the cause. Just treats the symptoms (as the 8L90e transmission fluid flush is only treating the symptom and not the cause) as the higher viscosity can still maintain some protection vs the 0w20. But the same amount of raw fuel is entering so nothing is done to prevent the dilution.
Our system actually brings in fresh, filtered, and MAF metered air into one bank or portion of the crankcase to flush and make up for the foul contaminant laden vapors being evacuated out the opposite bank or portion of the crankcase. And it does so full time vs the stock system that only relies on part time vacuum. So at all times the constantly entering excessive raw fuel and other contaminants produced during the combustion process are flushed and removed before they have a chance to settle and mix with the oil. So oil is not bombarded by these wear and damage causing substances. All while maintaining a closed emissions system.
Oil stays cleaner longer, wear is greatly reduced, and not only is engine life extended to near port injection engines of the past, but as we also trap and contain oil vapors that cause spark knock and knock retard, the engine maintains optimum ignition spark advance so the engine runs at peak efficiency giving 10% plus increase in fuel economy. And where the average "catch can" design only traps a small percentage of the total suspended contaminants, this system traps 90-95%, so almost nothing gets past.

MICHAEL: We plugged in the oil interval on this sample as 13,396 miles, but if that's not right, just let us know. If that interval is right, your engine looks absolutely fantastic. Iron is just barely above average, and those averages are based on just under 6,000 miles on the oil, so your engine is wearing much better than most of its type. Even if this oil was in place just 6,000 miles or so, these wear numbers are still perfect. No contamination was found and the TBN of 4.1 shows plenty of active additive left. Nice! Whatever this interval was, run 2,000 miles longer next time.
